Turtle

Fri Oct 16, 2009, 5:03 AM
Well just got my bronze turtle artist proof back, I'm happy with it but, just want to sort out the patina. But if anyone would like one, just let me know, They cost $100 which is very inexpensive for a bronze sculpture. Each one comes numbered out of 100.

Finally after 9 weeks of waiting I'm getting my bronzed turtle back!! I'm really not impressed with the foundry here, its taken so long. But really excited to see the finished result, it'll be awesome to see their metal work and the patina. So i'll post photos as soon as i get it!!!

just an update

Mon Aug 24, 2009, 7:35 AM
Hi everyone

Well today's been a good day, I drop the turtle at the foundry this morning, I can't wait to see the turtle in bronze, one of my favorite things about it is the weight of it in metal. I did a lot of touch ups on it, I made the shell more symmetrical and added the barnacles on it. Well onto the next one :) I can't wait! I just ordered some wax so hopefully that will get here in a few days and then I can really start to sculpt, Chavant is awesome to use but a way to soft for small things, every time i handled the turtle i ended up loosing detail:( Well just a little update I'll keep you all posted

Cheers

Steven

I'm going to get that turtle i sculpted cast in bronze and sell them as paper weights, it'll be a run of 100, and will be selling them for around $150. Will post pictures of the finished bronze as soon as i get it. The pictures on my page aren't the finished version, i touched up the face and the shell.

We'll its been six months since I arrived in Australia, so far its been pretty cool. Its so different yet similar to home. I've been doing some sculpture, but still haven't found a nice wax consistency i like. Busy trying to find some jewelers casting wax to try use, but its really hard to find. I also got my hands on zbrush so cant wait to give that a shot, will post some stuff as soon as i do anything.
